Dwayne A. Wood is a seasoned professional with over two decades of experience in leadership, management, and educational roles. Currently serving as a Curriculum Developer at Act1 Federal, he specializes in developing and designing curriculum materials for various educational levels and subjects. His collaboration with subject matter experts ensures the accuracy and relevance of content, while his expertise in instructional design principles enables him to create engaging and effective learning experiences.
Previously, Dwayne held positions as an Associate Faculty at the University of Arizona Global Campus, an Instructional Systems Designer at Mayvin Inc., and an Adjunct Faculty at National University. These roles underscored his deep knowledge in adult learning theories, instructional curriculum development, and evaluation. His work in these positions involved developing syllabus materials, evaluating student performance, and authoring courses in educational technology and leadership.
Dwayne’s extensive background also includes serving as a Learning Experience Designer at National University, where he conducted needs assessments, ensured curriculum alignment, and authored original content for e-learning platforms. His tenure as an Instructional Systems Specialist with the Department of Defense saw him leading course development projects and developing the organization’s first asynchronous online education course.
Before embarking on his career in education, Dwayne served as a Military History/Science Instructor at Canisius College and as an Operations Manager in the United States Army. His military service was marked by exemplary leadership and management skills, overseeing diverse teams and managing significant contracts.
Academically, Dwayne holds a Doctor of Education with a specialization in Educational Leadership and Management from Capella University, where he graduated with distinction. He also has a Master of Arts in Adult Education from Trident University and a Bachelor of Applied Science in Resources Management from Troy University, among other qualifications.
Dwayne’s philosophy centers on learner-centered instructional design, integrating technology to enhance learning experiences, and the importance of assessment and collaboration in instructional design.
